Material Controller

Location: India Mill, Darwen
Job Type: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week over a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday
Experience: Ideally 3 years experience in a similar role, in particular manufacturing environment

The role is integral within the Shared Services Value Stream (Goods In/Out, Stores, Ply Cutting, Inspection) and is intended to primarily manage the Time and Temperature Sensitive (TATS) materials and their movements within the business. If you have experience in material/stock controlling within a manufacturing environment, this could be the ideal role for you.

Principal responsibilities:

Here is what you can expect to be doing:

The Contracts Manager is responsible for all aspects of the specific customer contract management and will be the main focal point between the company and its customer(s) through all aspects of contract lifecycle, from agreement of new contracts to existing contract renewals, ensuring exceptional customer service and client satisfaction. Duties include, but not limited to, contract negotiation, price negotiation, development and maintenance of contract and NDA database, overseeing contractual price updates, review of NDA’s, internal communication of contractual terms and pricing updates, face-to-face customer meetings and delivery of contractual proposals.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Inspection processing – Checking Certificates of Conformity against customer specifications and ensuring material suitability or raising issues where appropriate 
  • Material movement transactions – Undertake timely, accurate electronic transactions to transfer materials to the relevant locations within the system.
  • Maximise material life – Operate “first in, first out” principles, monitoring remaining life on all materials and remove expired materials from the system.
  • Ensure the storage of materials is organised, traceable and complies with relevant standards 
  • Issue materials within the ERP system to ensure full traceability and manage anomalies with respect to material quantities 
  • Undertake cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels and where discrepancies occur, investigate as directed, bringing solutions forward to avoid further occurrences
  • Physically remove items (rolls, kits) from the freezer (with assistance) and return or store them where required and as produced in the ply cutting department.

  • Knowledge of stock handling (desirable)
  • Previous counterbalance FLT experience/current licence (desirable) 
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment (desirable)

When you are working:

  • 4-day week Monday to Thursday 07:15 am to 5:00 pm totalling 37 hours weekly.
  • Overtime is available from Friday to Sunday at premium rates of pay.
